Your original instructor certificate records training you completed. Professional recognition can say something different: where you are in your development as an indoor cycling instructor today.
An instructor certificate records an achievement. It tells somebody that you completed particular training and met the assessment requirements at that point.
It doesn't necessarily tell them what you have done since, how much experience you have gained or how your professional practice has developed.
ICI keeps those things separate deliberately.
Certificate, membership and recognition
They can sit alongside one another, but they shouldn't be confused with one another.

An annual relationship with ICI, giving access to current membership benefits. Membership is separate from the training shown on your certificate.

Achievement doesn't expire because time passes
If you successfully completed ICI instructor training, your certificate records that achievement. We don't pretend you somehow 'unlearned' the course because a calendar date passed.

Continued training, relevant experience and professional practice can demonstrate that an instructor has kept developing rather than treating initial certification as the end of their learning.

Look beyond the date on a certificate
Two instructors can hold the same original certificate and have very different professional histories.
One may have instructed regularly, completed further development and continued building their knowledge. Another may have completed their original training and done very little since.
